What We Believe

We share this planet with all its wildlife. And if we are to survive, we must find a way to do this harmoniously. We fund local African initiatives that are often outside the scope of larger wildlife organizations and overlooked in terms of financial resources. By supporting these projects, we are empowering these local communities, improving conditions for villagers, and protecting endangered wildlife from extinction.

We believe in the power of a common goal. And we endeavor to fight the devastating slaughter of wildlife by commercial poachers and end the tragic human/wildlife conflict that has confined animals to smaller areas until they are forced to interact with humans, all too often with deadly outcomes.

What Makes Us Unique?

We film all our projects and create mini-documentaries so you can see your funds having a positive effect on the ground in Africa. We encourage you to share your philanthropy with family and friends by forwarding our mini-docs, which also promotes awareness of the concerns we address.

Our funds are primarily raised through small donations from a global community. And 100% of our member donations go to the people and projects we back, who we know are working diligently and effectively to protect and defend Africa’s vulnerable wildlife and the communities they impact. To help meet the need and save vulnerable wildlife, we need all hands on deck.

Women on the Frontline of the Poaching War

Over and Above Africa is a proud Co-Producer of the multiple award winning film - Breaking Their Silence: Women on the Frontline of the Poaching War. The film premiered, and can be viewed on the Wondrium platform or on Vimeo-On-Demand

Bringing these courageous women to your attention has been a highlight of the work we’ve accomplished!

Created after Over and Above Africa founder, and award-winning filmmaker, Kerry David, attended a Los Angeles fundraiser for elephants.  The films played depicted the total devastation poaching and the human/animal conflict (population growth pushing animals into smaller and smaller areas) was having on Africa's vulnerable wildlife.

Kerry applied her craft as a filmmaker to better understand the poaching industry. Pursuing a passion that took her around the globe, from the US to Africa and Asia interviewing a variety of wildlife heroins and heroes, she captured compelling interviews that are at the heart of this astonishing film.  The result is the now, multiple-award-winning film, Breaking Their Silence: Women on the Frontline of the Poaching War. BTS takes viewers on Kerry’s personal journey to learn about the poaching crisis from the courageous women fighting on the frontline of this heinous, silent war.

Choosing not to focus on the pain these animals suffer at the hands of poachers, Breaking Their Silence instead reveals the tremendous courage, and heavy emotional toll this life extracts from those risking all to defend endangered animals. The film shines a bright and inspiring light on their intelligence, compassion, strength and tenacity, while also revealing the vulnerable side of these crusaders. It’s a hopeful film, created to inspire and motivate audiences.
