One Tree Planted
We know that you, like all of us at Over and Above Africa, care deeply about our planet and in supporting projects that give back to nature. We donate $1 for every member who signs up with a monthly subscription to us, and give to One Tree Planted!
If you join us now, you’ll be supporting our initiatives and also “One Tree Planted” with their mission of planting indigenous trees throughout the world wherever they are needed.
Trees provide habitat to over 80 percent of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity, create wildlife habitats, contribute to our health and wellbeing, and create jobs for social impact. Together our organizations focus on projects with local communities and knowledgeable experts to create a positive impact for wildlife, people, and nature.
We are honored to help reforestation through the work that One Tree Planted performs, as part of our own mission.

Budongo﹣Bugoma Corridor - Two Forest Blocks
Over and Above Africa is excited to participate with One Tree Planted in the funding of this critical reforestation project. It’s vital corridors form a network of community/private forests and national protected areas that connect communities of chimpanzees improving genetic viability of the species across its entire range.
The significant biodiversity values of the Albertine Rift Forests have been highlighted in many global and national environmental planning documents in this past decade. It ranks first out of the 119 distinct terrestrial eco-regions of continental Africa in terms of endemic species of birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, and second in terms of globally threatened species.
Over 50% of birds, 39% of mammals, 19% of amphibians, and 14% of reptiles and plants of mainland Africa occur in this region. Accordingly, the Albertine Rift forests are recognized among the World’s top 200 ecosystems of extreme global importance for biodiversity conservation as the “Earth’s Most Biologically Valuable Ecoregions.”
Critical in achieving lasting conservation outcomes, is the need to balance conservation objectives and socio-economic needs. Accordingly, One Tree Planted and O&AA contribute to the support of over 3,500 households in sustainable livelihoods through: smoke-free and more efficient wood-burning stoves; improved agricultural practices; establishing community-managed enterprises and microcredit programs, and sustainable production techniques that increase incomes while protecting forests.
