EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Heather MacMillan’s childhood was filled with an abundance of family rescue pets that surrounded her with love. Ever since, she has been a staunch advocate for all wildlife and conservation.

After helping to arrange a panel discussion for the film Breaking Their Silence: Women on the Frontline of the Poaching War at her workplace, Heather was struck by Kerry’s suggestion that it takes a community, comprised of people with various skills, coming together to move the needle and affect change for wildlife. Heather felt compelled to act and joined the O&AA team in 2020. 

Heather’s business degree, exemplary work ethic and positivity have been instrumental in Over and Above Africa’s upward trajectory in the fight to protect wildlife and support the communities they impact.

In her day job, Heather is a Marketing Team Lead at Boston Consulting Group, where she has been for over 15 years. She is well versed in client relationship management systems and weaving social media and content campaigns into marketing plans. She enjoys forging strong team relationships where all ideas are welcome, expressed and expanded upon. She brings those skills and more to the forefront working in the nonprofit community. 

She continues to surround herself with the animals she loves and has a family of rescue pitbulls. Her son, Alex, continues the family legacy of rescuing dogs and works with them as a trainer and groomer.
